went to newton yesterday me and two buddies just to fish for fun have a good time we dont all three get to fish together very often. so we packed all three of our tackle up sheesh lol not much room left in boat. got there at about 7 30 am fished till around 4 30 pm. started out on hotwater side (note my report from last week the water temp at boat ramp was 70) yesterday the water at ramp was only 58 and the warmest on hotwater arm was 65. wow what a drop in water temp. we only caught 1 fish on hot side i think the drop shut em down pretty well it did for us anyways also there was a big tourny parking lot was full. caught that one fish on a finesse worm only about 14 inches. went to cold side and the crazy thing here when we got there it was warmer than the boat ramp on hot side dont get that. but it was 60 pretty much all over the cold side coolest we saw was 58 on the whole lake. we ended up throwing spinnerbaits and small cranks and finesse worms and found them close to brush in shallow water. caught only 20 fish all together but i caught them all but 3 so it was a good day for me lol. 3 keepers 19 and two 18 and a half inchers nuttin big. missed a 5 6 lber on rick clunn trickster. must be the rod ive been using a 6'6" all star big boy rod with a quantum energy E600PT with 14 lb vanish transition and i miss more fish on that than carter has pills i tell ya. also piece of advice dont buy the big boy rod i started out buying 2 brand new and now i have went through 6 of them either ceramic in eyes crack off or just fall out. very sensitive rod with good hooksetting power for jig worm or carolina rig but kinda heavy and very undependable eyes. have a good day fishing.
