Water Temperature: 62
Water Clarity: 1 foot

I fished a club t'ment on 2 Apr and got second with a limit weighing 11-14.1st was 12-12. My fish were all males. I had a limit plus 15 slot fish. My partner had 4 keepers and 7 slot fish. The males are moving up to bed. I caught my fish in the backs where there was grass. I saw alot of my fish by seeing minute movements of the water as they chased things off the bed. I used a horny toad to fish over the grass and allowed it to drop into pockets. They hit it like they had never seen one before. Would not touch a senko or jig. My fish all came from less than 6 inches to 2 ft of water. When it was cloudy they wanted an agressive almost topwater retrieve. You would see the fish come out to hit the bait. When the sun came out you had to allow the toad to fall into holes or at grass edges. Once you "cleaned out" an area of bass, leave it for a while then come back. They would reload. The 12-12 guy used a jig to catch his fish. he was also catching bedding fish. onesy twosies where caught on bush hogs and spinner baits. I went in one pocket that was full of slots and cleaned up (on slot fish) with the toad right behind a guy throwing a jig (hedid not have a bite and was getting pretty frustrated). After a while I left the slot cove and returned to the back of that main cove and commenced to clean out the fish that had moved up during the my absence. The lake was packed and it was bumper boats. Most guys were fishing the pattern of the previous few days/weeks of mainlake weed pockets so I had the backs to myself. In fact very few guys even managed to make it to the backs that I was fishing. good luck
