Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Out yesterday with a good friend just for fun. The Potomac seems to have much more grass than usual this time of year. I though we were fishing in late June or early July, except for the lack of hydrilla in all the milfoil beds, although the hydrilla seems to be just starting to fill in. Must have been the dry Spring we had. Won't be long until all the grass beds are matted to the surface.
Fished Aquia, Arkendale, Wades and Chickamuxen for most of the day. Caught a good fish (6 pound plus) off topwater early in the morning, and a few other keepers as well in the grass. The topwater bite seemed to die early, and we really couldn't put much together for the rest of the day. Just a few more fish in the grass on Senkos. The main river was really stained (probably from the thunderstorms earlier in the week) but the grass beds were clear to only partially stained.
Got off the river when the ride back to the ramp was unbearable due to the pleasure boaters. Have a small club tourney next weekend; hope the weather holds this week. Should be good topwater toad fishing here soon!
