Hi bassers, made an early trip this morning to try out some top waters but the spot i went to was dead smack in the wind so i changed plans and went to my spinnerbait. Didn't do much at first but after a while caught a 2.6 smallie in 4 feet of water by some reeds and grass. Ended up catching a few more from the area but nothing of any size so i moved on. Went to another spot and fishing out at the mouth of a big cove and ended up getting a 2 pound l/m and a couple of small smallies. With the water temp in the low to mid 70's, i was starting to consider the smallies were just finishing up their spawn and the l/m were just starting so i went to another spot and looked. I went in around some rocks and weeds with a muddy bottom and fished with a worm and with in a couple of minutes caught a nice 3.8 pounder. There was a dock near-by and i caught another 2.8 pound smallies out from that. Going down the shore i found a nice looking tree in the water and because the weather was very overcast and it was raining, switched to one of my Tournament Force spinnerbaits (tfbass.com). I threw it over the limb close to shore and worked it back to the boat slowly through the tree. I was sitting in 18 feet throwing to 2 when i saw the flash of something in the tree and my allstar rod doubled over and my drag even started to give. I played it out and ended up bring a very nice 6 pound l/m to the boat. That was my biggest for the day because shortly after that, a big loud thunder storm set in and i was on my way back to the ramp in a hurry. I caught 12 bass with only half being keepers but it was a nice day up until the storm came. Spinnerbait and worms in 2-10 feet worked today. Hope everyone stays dry and everyone has a very happy 4th. Take care friends, DAVID
