Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Practiced for a t'ment on Jacksonville Lake. The weather started cool, cloudy and misty, 60F. As the day progressed the skies cleared wind out of the N at 5... 77F.
It was a day of several weather changes. Early caught a 4 lb bass on a spinner bait on wood. Lost a good one (didnt see it but I think about 3 lbs by the feel of it)on a horny toad buzzing it on the bank (I didnt bring any topwaters with me-duh). Before the skies cleared caught a 6 on the toad near the pads (not in them). I was fishing it like a jig. The fishing got tough as the sky cleared-it took me a while to figure out what to do. But when I did, the fishing was decent. Around noon caught a 3 lber on a jig on a blank rock bank. Then later a 3 and a half off a laydown on a jig. Then late after noon another 4 off a laydown on a jig. Total weight for the day-about 20 lbs. Now if I can only do that sunday. and what would this lake be like if they were really biting? Couldnt get bit in/around the grass. Tried the jig on the edges, senkos, horny toads, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and tubes-nothing. I only caught 6 shorts on the day. Overall a surprisingly good day consdering the weather changes and the fact that it was labor day holiday.
