Water Clarity: Not reported

Fished the mid section of the lake this morning from 6:30 till 11, cool early and it felt great. The lake was at full pool with a bit of stain to it. Started in the weeds with the jig and toad with 2 keepers on a watermelon red toad and 1 on the white jig, all three looked like they came out of the same mold in the 1 1/2 lb range. Fished a few brush piles with 3/16 oz spotstickers and red bug spotsticker hand poured worms in 10 to 12 feet of water and caught a couple of keepers about the same size as the weed fish and a couple of short fish, started working my way back to the house hitting boat houses and piers in the 8 to 10 foot depth range with the jig head and worm and picked up 4 keeper size fish in the 1 1/2 to 3 lb range. The fish are still wanting the jig head and worm fished slow without a lot of action. With the breeze we had this morning you had to position your boat so you could fish either into or down wind to maintain contact with it. I did find one concentration of shad between a couple of boat houses on one stretch, but never saw any fish hitting in them, decided to give it a try anyway and caught a couple in the 1 1/2 lb range on a white fluke rigged on a 1/8 oz flutter hook, letting it fall, then lifting it up and slowly working it back thru the shad school, both hit the fluke on the fall and just knocked slack in the line, never felt them hit. Not a real bad morning and things will just keep getting better as the weather and water cools down. Good Fishing - Mike Morton - Spotsticker Baits
