Water Clarity: 0 We caught plenty of fish but they were not shallow like I thought they would have been because of the recent 8 foot water rise. The fish were on the points in about 15 to 20 feet of water. Most were caught on watermelon red metal flake worms and flukes. We were dying both with chartreuse dip-n-dye and using 1/4 and 3/8 slip sinkers on 20 pound line. While we were there one boat had a 12.5 and two 8's in one morning using flukes. Another boat had a 9.1 using a 8 inch watermelon red metal flake worm dipped in chartreuse. One of our three fishing days was hampered by strong south winds ahead of this last cold front. We did manage some nice fish in the river but we caught more fish around the islands and the dam area. The 9 pounder was caught in the Purification River. We left in a hard rain Saturday morning and it had been raining all night. I will give it a couple of days and let you know if there was any water rise. I feel if it comes up some more the fish will really turn it on.....
We stayed at Haceinda Sants Fe on the Purification River. Hacienda Santa Fe now offers full package, room and board and camping facilities and the campground is better than I had hoped it would be.
