  Subject: Greer's Ferry, Arkansas

Submitted by 31Airborne (ip 155.153.20.1)

Date Fished: 4/29/2007
Water Temperature: 68
Water Clarity: 0

Spent the weekend on Greer's and timed it right weather-wise. It was perfect. High pressure on SUN caused the fish to move about/scatter, so it was a challenge finding them at first.

Found fish in and in front of flooded brush, mostly in 4-6' of water. Jigs and senkos (greens) acocunted for most of our fish. Had one on a crankbait (Long-A). Didn't have a lot of bites but the ones we had were very aggressive. No nibbling. When they hit it, there was no mistaking it.

Fished mainly on the upper lake area. Water was stained somewhat in the northern creeks, but still had 5-8' of viz. Water was MUCH clearer in the lower lake area.

Must echo Hybrid's concern, mentioned in a Greer's post he made yesterday. With bass fishing and recreational boating growing fast, the fish popluation on any lake is going to be affected. Slot limits and catch/release programs are effective for maintaining healthy fish populations, but the Game & Fish folks are sorely limited in what they can do to enforce the laws. If we're truly avid about the sport of fishing and want to protect this wonderful resource, we have to accept a role in enforcement. The real gains are made when we police up after each other, reminding those who want to keep fish to abide by the limits laid out for the the body of water they're on. For the record, all of the fish we caught this weekend (and on every other trip to date) were released alive.

Tight lines.
