Got to Grafton Lake near daylight and it was Beautiful. Worth the trip (50minutes)before my first cast. Everyplace loks fishy with tons of rocky points, islands and rocky underwater humps. No big motors allowed. maybe 6hp and under, not ssure so i pulled my 8 hp off, threw it in back of my van and used trolling motor only. Fished topwater first 90 minutes. Didn't get many hits but the place looked so good it almost didn't matter. The ones that hit and landed , about 6 of em were good size 2 to 4.75lbs. and when they blew up on the mirrored surface I thought it couldn't get any better than this. Been fishing 35 years and I was still babbling to my son like a kid at the circus and ooohhing and aaahing. We noticed some good bass (all SM ) on a few scatterde beds and they almost all were aggresive. We landed probably 15 in all (9 off beds). Caught the bedded bass on Gitzit tube jigs and if they didn't want that , they DID eat my 2inch white MIster Twister. Lost a couple though. Also the panfish and other small fish were mobbing my little twister and chewing it up but the big boys did too. Life was just to good however, and Mr. Whitecap saw fit to send a small breeze to dampen our enthusiaasm. Bout a 134.7 mph wind, so we said goodbye to the mirrored surface and I spent the next 90 min engaged in 95% running the trolling motor and spinning in circles and the other 5% of the time actively fishing. Least my son was fishing, but the wind made us blind (couldn't see subsurface and every other throw was a HUGE backlash on my expensive Joe Professional anti-backlash fish slayer baitcating rig. So, after cutting out my birdsnest and re-spooling , ...TWICE..., I cried uncle , tapped out, begged for mercy and we limped back to the ramp. After we loaded and strapped down the boat, I looked back as we drove away, and I could have sworn the wind was gone and the lake a mirror again. Pretty , quiet, decent fish , no fishing pressure. I recommend. Twins
