Well , Have you ever had one of those weekends that nothing seems to go right but everything turns out really good ? It began Friday night with a post about having a wildcat at Lay ! sounds good ! Logan has a game and ends up wanting to go to another on Saturday . Thats fine , I am still going to go to lay lake for a half day before another game .WRONG !!!!!!!!!!! At 2:00 a.m. the boss calls with news that the tropical storm in Florida has the power company concerned and they may need crews to help restore power . We start putting things in order for this to happen and then at 6:30 they decide to wait and see what happens ! Logical move , but screws up heading to lay early. Still plan on going to lay as I leave but after stopping and gasing up I decide well Logan martin is like right here ! I will just go down to clear creek and junk fish and stay out of a couple of buddies way that are fishing tournaments . I get started hitting a shallow ridge boating a couple of small ones. I move to a road bed in cropwell and after working a good section find some small to keeper fish catching one nearly every cast with the best one a spot near 3 pounds . I have got at least 5 keepers that will push 9 pounds . I decide to run back down and hit some brush piles in 10 to 14 feet of water . I worked several spots of the brush and had caught a small non keeper . I decided to make one more cast before leaving and it was the right move . I hit a pile of brush and wham a good spot at near 3 pounds . I was reeling it in and noticed two more big spots trying to take the worm , I picked up a crankbait flipped it close and wham its on another good one . It ends up pulling off but for an hour I cast to the same piece of brush and caught numbers of 1 to 2 pound spots . The bite begin to slow and I decided to cast a deep running crankbait . (I aint to smart ) I gotta crankbait that runs about 16 foot deep casting it into 8 foot of water and digging up the bottom on the retrieve . I do this 8 or 10 cast when I bump some more brush in about 10 foot of water and the plug comes to a stop and then the old familar head shake and to the top comes my best fish of the day ! I had 5 that went 13 pounds or so and wish I could say I knew what I was doing but the truth is the fishing god was on my side today ! I caught two crankbait fish and the rest came on spotsticker jigheads with half on the regular ss magic hand pour and the other half on ss magic magnum hand pours. The fish are using 10 to 14 feet of water near brush and rock and seem to be holding the baits well . I saw alot of guys putting fish in the boat today from alot of different types of structure . If I had to bet I would figure 16 to 19 pounds to win on Logan today .

Good Fishing and God Bless !
