Water Temperature: 82
Water Clarity: 6 inches

Coulda locked up to PB but decided to see this pool - had never been on it before. Wing dams, wing dams, wing dams.

Launched out of Rising Star park. Saw 78 degrees at launch; warmed to 82 by midday. River is heavily stained, but looks like it's trying to clear up. CoE were pulling water hard - it was screaming coming over the wing dams early in the AM. It slowed about 10 or so.

Found a little pocket (~ 2 acres or so) of water in behind one of the dams. Water was swirling up against stumps and submerged brush along the shoreline. Found fish holding tight to wood and rocks w/ senkos (blues, greens), Pac Tac jig (black, soft shell craw), and medium runner Bill Dance (shad). It was a catchin' kinda day - probably no less than 70 fish boated between my partner and me. Challenge was catching keepers. Not a lot of those. No shortage of 14" fish in this pool - we had no less than 3 dozen of them.

The pocket we were fishing had a narrow feeder creek. The water was swirling up against the left hand point (which was littered w/ stumps, wood). The wind was blowing in on the pocket, too. The fish were stacked up on this little point. Numerous back-to-back-to-back hook-ups on successive casts. Some pretty wicked strikes on the jig.

Saw lots of shad in this pocket. Bass were herding them into the creek and shallow flat behind it. Probably had enough water to get back on the flat but didn't risk it. Besides, we had all the action we could handle at the mouth of the creek.

Duaner - I straightened the hook out on one of the newer jigheads. Think this was the last batch of that bad steel. Are the new 5/0s in yet??

Tight lines.

ATW, B
