Subject: AR River (PB Pool), Arkansas

Submitted by 31Airborne (ip 155.153.20.1)

Date Fished: 6/17/2007
Water Temperature: 85
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Launched out of Island Harbor. Saw 81 degrees at launch. Water in the ramp area was heavily stained. Water in the back of the harbor was in good shape - 2+' viz; was up about 1-2'. Water warmed to 86 by noon.

CoE were pulling water hard so we stayed in the harbor. Talked to a couple people who tried the main river w/ no luck. Just too much water moving to be safe.

Found fish tight to wood and along the riprap edges w/ senkos (greens, blues) and jigs (Pac Tac softshell craw, black neon). No topwater bite at all, not even a swirl. Had a couple of shorties on cranks (Bandit 300, shad). Had to pull the bait thru brush to get a strike. As the sun came up and the clouds broke the fish pulled back to the first drop (~5-7') and held there. Had a few takers on jigs but the number of bites dropped off dramatically.

Because of the conditions on the main river the harbor got a little crowded by mid-morning. I was coming up on another boat (coming from the other direction) and was swinging wide to let him fish thru when this geezer in a tin boat rushed in between us (on pad, inside the no wake zone) - easily inside 25' from both boats. He didn't even drop his trolling motor. He just started throwing into a brush pile he probably sank. Now, I have no problem sharing water and I have no issues w/ tin boats (I own one). I also know what it means to be courteous - no matter what kind of boat you're driving. As this sport grows in popularity and as tournaments continue to increase, the only ones who'll keep the water safe and friendly are us. I said something to the dude in the tin boat (which he didn't like) and he moved along quickly. Sad part is he would've had a quiet day on the water w/ no hassle if he'd've not been a ****head.

Tight lines. Be courteous. Be safe.

ATW, B
