Water Clarity: 1 foot Hit Southern champain today. 45 degrees and fog. Tried frogs and spinnerbaits and soft jerkbaits early but not a bump. Flipped heavy cover for an hour, not a sniff. Finally my daughter caught a nice 6 lb pike on a crankbait. Moved north and flipped a couple bays, very slow. Moved to a point and we picked up 10 lmb on cranks, mostly small but a couple nice chunks. Ran farther north and picked up a couple small fish. Then had a crank hammered - huge pike -over 40 inches- got it to boat twice but then it shot away, got close a third time but then hook pulled out. Biggest pike I almost caught. Had acouple gar chase a crank around but couldn't get a hook in them. Moved across to VT side and cranked some shallow wood. Bounced the crank off a log and was hammered, thought it was another huge pike but boated a 6 lb 8 oz lmb, huge fat slob. My daughter was amazed by the mouth on this pig.
Picked up a couple more smallish fish and called it a day. Nice day on the water but the cold shut down the fish until midmorning when sun heated up.
