  Subject: Lake Guerrero, Mexico

Submitted by Ron Castille (ip 74.183.34.37)

Date Fished: 11/19/2007
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

Lake Guerrero is RISING!!!!!!! The lake has risen about 15 to 17 feet from about 10 to 12 inches of recent rains in the past couple of months, most form Hurricane Dean. I think will continue to rise for about another two weeks. The water is still stained and flowing and it usually clears up and still flows for a week or so after the rivers clear up. The fishing reports are getting better and will be even better in a about a week. This will make the fall, winter and spring fishing really good and will make conditions for a great spawn. The water level on Lake Guerrero is as high as it was in 1988 after Hurrican Gilbert. I have been working on the lake for about 20 years and every time this has happened the fishing is fabulous......... So get your gear ready and make some plans to experience some really GREAT fishing. I just returned from the lake and the conditions are great for both catching fish and duck hunting. I did both with my three boys (ages 18, 15 and 10) and they had a ball......... We stayed at Hacienda Santa Fe and they now offer full package, room & board, camping service and also dove, quail, goose and duck hunting packages. Fishing report: Lures we used - white with chart dipped tails Zoom Super Flukes, Baby bass super flukes, watermelon with tail dipped in chart super flukes. watermelon with red metal flake cinco's small spinner baits - chart and white skirts topwater very early - chug bug and baby torpedoes The fish that we found were in 5 - 7 feet of water with lots of flooded brush. The flukes and cinco's we added a 1/16 slip sinker Texas style and it worked better than without but the wind was around 15 mph while we were there. I did catch some fish on a 3/4 oz spinner bait but my kids did better on the smaller baits because they stayed above the brush. Any questions call or email me.....
