Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Weather was decent today (Wed. 12/12/07), 47 degrees, some sun and clouds, so I decided to fish for a couple of hours this afternoon, I have always liked jig fishing, but never have caught any fish on a football jig. I rigged a 3/8 oz, football jig, Green pumpkin with some purple, added a Gene Larew Baby salt craw, craws dipped in red dye and a Uncle Josh Crawdad Brown No. 11 pork fork. Started fishing around a drainage pipe that was really flowing, but no takers. A lot of wind hitting this area. No takers! Worked around the lake and got up into a protected from the wind cove and another drainage pipe - caught a 12" right out of the gate, had another fish boil all over the jig, but missed! Fished across from the drainage pipe and pulled the jig right in from of the submerged pipe when a bigger fish hammered the jig! and the short lived fight was on! Pulled the fish into the bank, it was a solid 16", about 2 3/4#. Beautiful fish! No other takers after that! This may be one of the last open water days of the year! But I hope not!
