Subject: Lake Lanier/Charleston Park Update, Georgia

Just wanted to let everyone know how things are going. We are so very close to our $18694.00 goal which we need to rent the porta-dam for the Charleston Park Project. As I stated in my previous reports our project will extend the ramp INTO the water which will allow the lake to drop even more and this ramp would still be in use. So as not to be confused there are several projects going on and different people collecting money for each project. This is the only project of this type. Some of the projects are pouring concrete to the current water level. And there is another project, I think using steel. All of the projects are very worthy. It just depends on which one is closest to you, and which project you want to support. Everyone that helps with every project is appreciated. Now that we have almost got the money, Forsyth County, after they get all of their bids in which, should be next week will hire the contractor to do the construction and pour the concrete needed. Forsyth County is paying for that which will be around $9,000.00 more or less. The dam keeps the water pumped out so the work can be done below the water level. For info on how the dam works see it at www.portadam.com If we continue to get more pledges and we can get enough since the dam is leased for a minimum of 30 days, we will then attempt to repair and rebuild another lane at Charleston Park. After talking to Joey Nichols who is working with me on the project, he thought the project would tak 2 weeks to complete if all goes as planned. Remember also we can use the parking at 6-mile but I overstated the amount of parking there which when I counted them today was 17. So with Charleston and 6-mile we would have at least 61 spaces to use. I have also checked with the Corps and Forsyth County and they said after the project is done we can put up a sign at the ramp with the names and businesses of the people who contributed to the project.

Again for pledges come to Hammonds Fishing Center or e-mail me at hammondsfishing@bellsouth.net

Thank You for your support

Candy Hammond
