Sorry all, this is not mainly a fishing report. But I will report that fishing in Maine in the spring is GREAT. No news there. Our group travels up there every year for a week+ where we usually hit the lakes in the Newport and Bangor area. The Largies love the senkos, green pumkin or watermellon seem to work well, and the smallies love Texas rigged lizards, mossy pumkin is the killer color sometimes. We have noticed that the top water bite has not been as hot in the last few years as in the past (just a matter of trip timing wrt to water temp. and the spawn cycle?) -- we have indeed run into some colder weather the past few years, and maybe its just because we have become more used to throwing the plastics, weighted and unweighted, so we don't stick with the top water lures as much. Two years ago the fish in Cobosseecontee would not leave paddle-tail stick worms alone -- why was it everyone in the group except me brought them along?! These are just some of the mysteries we, as your typical bank-beaters, have trouble solving on our own. Our group has benefitted greatly from advice proffered by a few very good Maine fishermen that we have met over the years. Anyhow....

On our way up to meet the others in our group for our yearly fishing trip this spring, my uncle and I thought we would try some new water for a day or two further south in the Sebago Lake area. Can any of you Maine Bassers give suggestions for a realively cheap place to stay for a couple of nights in that area? I think we'd be looking to stay anywhere from the North Windham area (south of Lake Sebago) to the Bridgton area (north of Lake Sebago.

We're looking to save some money, and we're NOT expecting to stay at the Ritz. So any help with cheap lodging suggestions would be much appreciated. If you have a hint or two about fishing any of the Lakes in the Sebago area, that would be a welocomed plus too. We are just your typical weekend warriors, 100% catch and release, and thankful to be able to travel to Maine to partake in some great fishing. Feel free to e-mail me at kjm9017@yahoo.com; we could swap information, or just talk about Maine Bassin in general. Thanks.
