Date Fished: 2/9/2008 North Alabama Bass Club Guntersville Lake, February 9, 2008 Brown Creek Ramp The North Alabama Bass Club held their February tournament from Brown Creek Ramp on Lake Guntersville. The results of the tournament follow. First place – Rick Armstrong and Lindon Faulkner, 5 bass, 14 lbs. 5 oz. Second - Johnny Alldridge and Darrell Simons, 5 bass, 14 lbs. 3 oz. Third – Jeff McCracken and John Tumminello, 3 bass, 12 lbs. 13 oz. Big bass – Jeff McCracken, 6 lbs. 4 oz., largemouth Big stringer – Rick Armstrong – 14 lbs. 5 oz. Conditions - The tournament field of 26 anglers faced a beautiful, cool day (35°F) with clear skies at the 6:30 am launch. The weather stayed clear and warmed up with water temperatures around 49°F and air temp. rising to around 55°F by tournament end at 3:30 pm. Wind became an issue mid way through the tournament. The winning stringer of fish was caught on a red Speedtrap modified with #4 Gamakatsu treble hooks in 2–1/2 – 3 feet of muddy water. (14 fish were caught with this technique of which 7 were keepers.) Other stringers were caught on rattletraps in 2 - 7 feet of water and on a spoon or jig in 15 – 20 feet of water. The big fish was caught on a spinnerbait in 5 feet of water and a 5 lb 10 oz largemouth was caught on a jerk bait. The North Alabama Bass club always welcomes guests and potential new members. The next tournament is March 8 at Guntersville Lake, Waterfront Ramp.
