Hello from Lake Sam Rayburn. I know that many of you are getting geared up for the McDonald’s Tournament, and that many of you are still looking for a place to stay. Due to a scheduling mix-up, we have an opening at the Backlash Lodge. You can view this rental at our website by clicking on this link:

We usually rent the Backlash for $1,000 for the week of the McDonald’s tournament. You can check in anytime this week, so call me if you are interested. The lodge will sleep up to ten people, but is great for a group of any size. It has a big screen TV, satellite, VCR/movies, wireless internet, washer/dryer and great boat parking. It’s located by the Highway 147 bridge, and is centrally located to several boat ramps. Call me at the numbers below-- it is first come first serve.

The lake has been rising the last couple of weeks, and the water has crept up into the bushes--and so have the fish. There are more small fish than big fish, but you can catch a bunch of them. For those in the tournament, I would suggest staying out on the grass and fishing Carolina rigged lizards and worms, along with mid to deep range crank bait. But if fishing shallow is your “cup of tea”, then get out big top water baits and the frogs. The frog bite gets good after the fish spawn, and since the lake level is up, the alligator grass has been full of fish. If the conditions are cloudy, baits like a Zara Spook or a buzz bait will produce well along main lake points. But the sunny days will make the frog bite strong. Historically the winner of the tournament comes along the grass in 10-15 feet, but there are also many checks made in the shallow water.

Our real estate company will be having several open houses at different lake properties around the lake this weekend. If you are in the market for a new place at the lake, watch your email for our open house schedule, which will detail which homes we’re featuring, their locations, and times. If you aren’t on our email list, send me a note and I will add you to the list.

Good luck to all of you in the tournament—may you catch the fish of a lifetime!

God Bless and Good Fishing,

Jeff Buchanan www.jeffbuchananrealty.com office 936-897-1099 cell 936-240-1700
