I guided Damon and Steve a couple local fisherman wanting to learn a little
more about the St Johns River.We headed north of Lake Monroe on the river
looking for schooling fish on shellbeds and it didn't take long to find what we were
looking for.Our first stop produced 8 nice fish all coming on HighRoller 3.25
topwater baits.As this was a trip to both learn and understand the river system
as well as catch a few fish we moved on to the next area leaving these fish
busting shad every couple minutes.Next stop the wind had picked up from
the north blowing against the current and the shad were not coming to the
top.This area was a small shellbed and I knew the fish were there but they just
were not busting on top so I gave the guy's a C Rig and Texas rigged worm
and four more fish came over the side of the boat.The rest of the trip was just
showing good areas that will produce fish over the next few months.
We are coming up on my favorite month of the years for artificial fishing.
May is a month on the river where you can catch fish just about any way you
wish to catch them.Flipping main river pad fields will produce many big
fish over the next couple months.I am open April 16th 18th 19th 25th 26th 27th
29th and I have all of May open.As always I will be offering my special durning
May and June.First package is two full days fishing and one night hotel stay
for $700.00 Second package three full days fishing and two nights hotel stay
