Water Clarity: 2-3 feet Fished the mouth of Deer creek for an hour at lunch. Caught 2 fat smallies 15" and 17" on a smoke/white super fluke rigged on a weighted jerkbait hook. Targeted the 2 eddies in the area and hooked a total of 5 smallies in the last 10 minutes I was there. The largest one was easily 20-21 4+ pounds but decided to leave the water and spit my hook almost at my feet! Some live bait guys had been there for 5 hours and offered me their bait as they left, they were discouraged they didn't catch a thing all morning. I declined the live bait offer politely and smiled as I looked away. I thought to myself, who the hell needs live bait!
Get out on the water fellas, the next 6 weeks is the best fishing of the year!
