Water Clarity: Not reported It was another great day for shiner fishing on the St Johns River today.
With a drop in water temp of 10 degrees in two days the fish were not very
active but when you got one to bite it was a BIG FISH.My Client Robert Bell
of VA had 6 bites in six hrs and boated 4 of the 6 bites first fish weighed 9 1/4
on the Boga Grip second fish weighed 10 1/4 third fish was 7 lbs and forth
fish was 4 pounds.Robert lost a big fish that came unhooked in the main river
and we had a Real Big Fish Break 25 LB Mono like sewing thread when it pulled
through the pad field.We got a good look at this fish as it busted a 10 inch shiner
on top of the water and all I can say is WOW WHAT A FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The schooling fish didn't do much this morning with the cold weather as
two fish were caught on a HighRoller 3.25 we did see a few fish working
bait but with the 20 mph north wind we called it quits and started shiner fishing
by 8 am.I still have day's open this month and all of May and this great fishing
is just getting started.You don't have to come to Florida
in the winter to catch Trophy Bass because the ST Johns River will produce Trophy Bass 365 days a year.
