Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Launched for the first time this year under sunny skies and a light breeze. Ran to the northern part of the lake where I always start my season. Most years I'm there a day or two after ice out. This year bass were cruising all over the place and dozens of fish were already on beds. First fish of the year hit after only a few casts with a twitch-bait. Second fish also hit this bait followed by a fish or two on a lipless crank. Numerous pike enjoyed the taste of this bait as well. I couldn't hold back any longer and pulled the spinner-bait rod out of the box. I've no clue why they prefer this bait over a realistic minnow shaped bait, but they did. No huge numbers nor sizes, but I was happy to finally get my year started. Two dozen LMB made it to the boat today up to 2.5lbs. Will see how the wind and rain plays out the next day or two.
