Water Clarity: 0 I'm not a huge Bass fishing enthusiast, more of a Mountain Trout & salt water fly fishing purist at heart. However, Lake Norman which I typically do NOT enjoy fishing was unbelievable today. LKN is usually anglings version of watching paint dry to me. Lake James, Fontana Lake and Lake Jocassee are so much better than Norman.
However, today was an exception, star must be aligned or something, the entrance to McGuire hot hole, I caught at least 20 Spotted Bass in 2 hours ??? Lost count, could have been 18 fish or 23 fish??? all were 12" to 22" fish, 1-4 lbs each, great fighters Spots are....I used a faithful old ultr light trout lure that can only be found at Curtiss Wright Outfitters in Saluda NC...1/8 oz. Rooster tail, Pure White with metallic flake paint,gold blade, SINGLE HOOK, white bucktail skirt....WOW!!! Used Rapala 5'6" ultra light with Shimano spin cast w/6 lb. test. I was amazed!!! Unfortunately It will probably be another 2 months before I catch another fish on LKN.
