Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Launched at South Bay under sunny skies despite the forecast for mostly cloudy skies. 5-10 winds were more like 15-25 once they kicked in. Pulled into a set back and caught my first Champlain LMB of the year at 4lbs. Followed that up with a 3lb spinner-bait fish. Followed that up with the first PinHead of the year cutting me off. He gave me about 25yds then took the rest. I followed behind him anyway picking off five nice fish he missed including another 4lb fish before I lost my bait to a nick in the line on a hook set. Ran north a bit to hit some rock with a lipless-crank to get some small takers. Also found the ProWannaBe's practicing their run-and-gun technique in and out of most every set-back kicking up 20' rooster-tails as they try to find the five fish that will win their first tourney five weeks away. I guess this is what it has come to! Finally found some solitude, save for some market-panfisherman, picking up a decent fish every now and then on a spinner-bait and lipless-crank around flooded trees. Boated about two-dozen LMB today. Only SMB I saw was a 4lb fish being eaten away by fungus.
