Braved the weather for a club TX. Put in at Hope Springs. Saw 64 degrees at launch. Stayed right at 64 all day. Weather sucked. Water conditions weren't much better except out in Aquia Bay where there was almost 2' of viz in the shallower grass.

Found a few willing fish w/ weightless senkos fished along the outer edge of the shallow grass areas. If I kept the boat in 4.5-5' and casted to where the grass just showed on the surface, I got bit. Had a couple of blow-ups while retrieving lures from shallow grass, but no hook-ups. No takers on shallow runners, chatterbait, or topwater.

Experimented w/ the backwater areas in Aquia Creek on the way in. Found smaller fish holding tight to laydowns w/ senkos. Color didn't matter so long as it was dark. Maybe 4-5" of viz in the back of the creek. Basically fishing in chocolate milk.

Grass is nice and lush in Aquia Bay. The outer edges of the bay have not yet grown in to the surface but it won't be long. This is a good sign. Yeah, this area gets hammered pretty hard all year, but the grass makes for a buffer of sorts. Was disheartened to see people running full bore all the way into the inner reaches of the bay. Had one ***hole burn past me w/in 25 yards or so. PA boat number. Those people drive boats like they drove cars -- poorly. Anyway, as the grass grows in and closer to the surface, people running on plane all the way in will only damage it. Got kinda crowded about 9 AM or so. There's a serious dafety consideration here, too. Don't be like the carperbagger from PA. Think about the other folks out there trying to enjoy the Potomac's abundance. Thanks.

Tight lines.

ATW, B
