The wife got the boating bug just after lunch and we headed to Shearon Harris. From just after 2 until just after 5 , I boated 6 nice bass. Two were close to 17", 2 between 18" and 19", a 16" pygmy and a the kicker, just over 22". We had several more strikes and get-offs, but the fish were in the backs of the coves en masse. Apparently the full moon had sent in the spawners for another try. Beds were everywhere in the backs of the pockets, some deserted, some sunfish condominiums, but single spots in 1-4 feet of water were dynamite. Flukes(pearl) accounted for most of the strikes, but a wacko-rigged senko(5" watermelon)got a few. The big boy(and it was a male)was setting up a bed under a couple of limbs and changed his "sweet spot"until I finally got him with a 6" lizard. The wife had fun netting three of the biggest fish, enjoying the scenery, and kibitzing my fishing techniques and decisions, especially on the big one.

Clouds were building and we got off just before the storms moved in. I fish the lake periodically, but this is the most action I've had in the last two trips. I know there's a slot limit, and on any lake that produces male spawners almost 5 lbs.( I only took time to weigh the big one) it must be judged an obvious success.

Putting in at the dam, I fished the right hand arm away from the power station, concentrating on pockets on the left going up, protected somewhat from the wind. I'm going back Tuesday and Thursday to give it a full day and see what I can do about catching one of those large females.
