Subject: Lake Champlain Northern section, Vermont

Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Fished the entire week of 3 - 9 May on the northern end of the lake (Mainly around North Hero Island and the Gut. Three guys in the boat caught a total of around 180 Smallies (1LB - 5LBs) with most in the 2-3LB range. Jerkbaits, Shad Raps, Jigs (Most colors of Tails ot tubes worked) & Blue Fox Vibrax #2 or 3 in silver were the ticket. Also caught around 30 Pike (largest was 33") and 30 or so Largemouth (Largest was 5LB 15oz off North Hero State Park).
Additional "hot Spots were Lapans Point & Holiday Point (Beware of the submerged rocks!!). For the most part it was Western facing shorelines and southern points that did the best. Two of seven days saw high winds and waves to four feet but not all day (The Lake can blow up at any time but usually lays down toward evenings). Rest were 1ft or less with a slight chop that is perfect for smallies. Black & Silver crankbaits or any color jerk bait with an Orange belly worked.
This year we didn't go to Lake Carmi but another boat that did didn't catch much.
