Date Fished: 6/8/2008
Water Temperature: 85
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

6-8-08 Summer is here, but the wind has been killing us. When we can get out to our main lake brush piles, we are averaging over 60 keeper crappie per 5 hour trip. The shallower piles, in protected coves, are not giving up the numbers of keepers with 30-50 keepers being the norm. The water temp is running mid 80’s and the fish are still holding at about 12 feet over deep structure. As the water temps increase, we will be working deeper to catch out fish. Live shiners are the best, but jigs in pink/chartreuse and albino shad colors have been working as well. The bass are very active early and late around shallow cover and are taking top waters, frogs and Super Flukes. Shad patterns are the best for the top waters and darker colors for the frogs and Super Flukes. During the hotter part of the day, the deeper water has been giving up some good bass. Carolina Rigs, Drop Shots and Shakey Heads have been the ticket. Trick Worms and Senkos in Watermelon shades are getting the most attention from the bass in the deeper water. Any available cover on ledges and drops in 15-20 feet has been holding bass, and using your electronics to find fish on the cover is critical to success. I am booked solid through July, but have a few dates left for crappie in Aug and Sept. And bass and crappie dates are available for Oct and Nov. If you would like to book a trip or just talk fishing, give me a call at 409-379-3474 of visit my website at www.rogerbaconoutdoors.com
