had an excellent day yesterday on the lake. But, my biggest surprise was when I came around a corner on a back road and saw a young moose standing on the side of the road. I had my camera with me "in the boat", so what are my chances to get out of the truck, walk back to the boat and get my camera "without" scaring her off. I got out and started to walk back and "SLAM" my truck door shut, I thought that was it, but I looked up to see her looking back at me without any fear at all. I got my camera and took a long shot, but then I got back in my truck and drove closer, holding my camera up to get a good shot. But I kept getting closer and closer until I was right up beside her, about 6 feet away and I got several pictures. She just stood there and I think she may have had a young one handy, so I left her. I later found a policeman and explained to him about the moose and he said he would get in touch with a warden to check on it. Well, that was an exciting way to start my day. I made it to the lake and found the weather was perfect for some bed fishing for smallies. Little wind, hot and sunny. We made it up into the 90's and it was just "sticky", but with all this warm weather now, all those "empty beds" over the last 2 weeks should have fish on them, and they did plus more. I ended up getting 25 for the day, average fish was over 2 pounds.
