“Under The Influence Of Alcohol” In Georgia’s Outdoors Needs Your Help”

Please copy and paste this to as many people as you can, your support and others are greatly needed!!!

Help create a much more safe environment on Georgia’s lakes by supporting changing the blood alcohol content to 0.08 for “Boating Under The Influence” of alcohol (O.C.G.A 52-7-12)...

Georgia’s current law allows boat operators to be 0.10 BAC and this is totally ludicrous and creates a public safety issue that must be addressed now...

Description of Proposed Change This proposed change provides for tighter tolerances regarding “Under The Influence of Alcohol” acts in Georgia’s outdoor sports, a reduction of 0.02 of the person's alcohol concentration, so that the change provides that it is a crime to be in such an impaired state of being under the influence of alcohol to the extent that it is less safe for the person to hunt/boat and/or the person's alcohol concentration is 0.08 grams or more at any time within three hours after such hunting/boating from alcohol consumed before such hunting/boating ended. This proposed change would bring inline Georgia’s “Under The Influence of Alcohol” laws to each be set at the blood alcohol content of 0.08 thereby reducing confusion among the population of the state and the state’s law enforcement agencies tasked with enforcing laws. The final and most warranted result of the proposed change would be to lower alcohol related injuries in the Georgia outdoors.

If you wish to help support this law change please let the following legislators know via sending them a simple letter or e-mail:

Senator Bill Heath 2225 Cashtown Rd. Bremen, Ga. 30110 (e-mail – billheath@billheath.net)

Representative David Knight 526 Brook Circle Griffin, Ga. 30224 (e-mail - david.knight@house.ga.gov)

SAMPLE SUPPORT LETTER (feel free to copy and paste into your e-mail)

Senator Bill Heath 2225 Cashtown Rd. Bremen, Ga. 30110

Representative David Knight 526 Brook Circle Griffin, Ga. 30224

Good Day Honorable Legislators of Georgia,

I contact each of you this day to voice my support for a change in OCGA 27-3-7 and 52-7-12, whereas both deal directly with “under the influence” statutes pertaining to activities in Georgia’s outdoors, and it’s my opinion that both codes need to be more equivalent to the state’s highway standards thereby effectively reducing in the blood alcohol content from it’s current level of .10 to .08. This change is in the best interest of public safety and the betterment of Georgia’s outdoor hunting and boating heritages.

I urge you to please author a bill that will see these changes become law.

Signed,
