Jimmy Everett’s Lake Fork Report www.fishinlakefork.com fishinlakefork@yahoo.com

The hot weather is finally here but the high winds have kept it reasonable on the lake. The fishing has been good so look forward to some good weights coming to the scales especially if the wind lays enough for anglers to get out deep.

The majority of my fish have been coming from deep water humps, points, ridges, and drop offs located in 18- 32 feet of water. Your depth finder will be the major part in finding these schools of deep water bass. There are 3 baits that have produced most of my deep water fish. I have been throwing a Storm Wild Eye swim bait in the 4 or 5 inch sizes. The best colors have been mullet or bunker for myself. I am using these on a rip and swing technique. I will make a long cast and let it sink to the bottom on a free line. Once it hits I am ripping the bait up, reeling up the slack, and letting it swing back on a tight line till it hit’s the bottom. Once it hit’s the bottom repeat this over and over till you are under the boat and ready for your next cast. I have also been catching some good fish early on a Carolina rigged Zoom Ol’ Monster in plum apple then switching to a baby brush hog or fry type bait in the middle of the day. My best colors have been watermelon/red or watermelon candy. I am rigging my carolina rig up with a 1 ounce weight and a 6 to 7 foot leader. Slow has been a big key on this. The last bait I have been catching lots of fish on is a dd22 in any shad pattern. I have been throwing these on 10 to 12 pound line to make sure they get deep. This can be work but will out produce these other baits on some days so keep one handy.

It has been very windy on many days so the days where the wind keeps you from deep water start covering water. Most of the days have been partly cloudy which will keep some fish shallow. Find grass beds located from the creeks to the main lake and start working it over. My go to baits have been a chrome blue 1/2ounce lipless crank bait, or a texas rigged zoom 6 inch lizard or Net bait baby Paca Craw in shades of green and brown. Work these baits quickly and you will find some nice fish scattered in the grass to make a good day out of a bad windy day.

I still have June 25-27, 30 available with some July dates for those interested in some great summer fishing. If you are interested in a professional Lake Fork Guide trip for any time give me a call at (903)-216-1867 and I will be happy to help or answer any questions that you may have.
