Subject: Ft.Loudon & Tn River, Tennessee

Submitted by Ron Scott

Date Fished: 6/17/2008
Water Temperature: 83
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Fished today from 6am until 6pm. This AM I fished with an old friend from Lanier, Phil Dawson, on Loudon until 2pm. My son Michael fished out of my boat and I fished with Phil. Between the 3 of us we caught a total of 25 as best I could count. We had several nice keeper largemouth but nothing bigger than 2.5lbs. Most were under or just at 14 inches. All but a couple were caught on C-Rigs in 15-25ft. I hated that northwest wind coming in but that's life. At 2pm we said our goodbyes and I got back in my boat with Michael. We then went and put in below the dam and went downriver and had a pretty good afternoon from about 2:30 until 6pm with the real fun spot being me watching Michael wrestle a 20+lb flathead catfish to the boat on a DD-22. I work out with 20lb dumbells and the fish was a good deal heavier than that but I didn't have scales that would weigh over 20lbs. I caught a nice striper in the 6 to 8lb range, also on a DD-22.As usual we caught some really nice size spots, 4 or 5 nice largemouth all in the 1.5 to 2.5lb range and several smallies but none of the smallies made it to 3lb today. Also caught a few BIG white bass today. Ended up with 15 or 16 fish on the river for a total of near 40 for the day, but it was a long hard day of working for them today and disappointing that no big fish were caught except the ole'cat. I still bet it will take close to 20lbs a day to win the big tourney this weekend. Good luck, back next week. Ron
