Date Fished: 6/18/2008
Water Temperature: 82
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

The surface temps have fallen a bit with the last few cool nights and gotten back down to a good level. I am seeing 81-84 deg water all over the south end on the main lake. The lake level is now dropping an inch per day for the last week or so. With no rain and the water demands, look for it to continue to drop at that level. We are approaching 14 feet below full now.

Fishing has been pretty good. I have been out everyday this weekn and last. I have been still concentrating on topwater fish as I am getting anywhere from 15-30 rises per day. Yesterday, we had 15 or so in just 4 hours of fishing and today we had atleast 25 in 8 hours.

I am also still doing very well on a 1/2 ounce brown football jig on main lake flats and points. I have been fishing a brown Skinny Bear football jig in the 1/2 ounce size for the most part. Got them at Timberghost a few weeks back. Tip it with a 5" twintail trailer and you are ready to go.

The dropshot bite has been picking up. There are alot of small stripers around the humps and points so dont get upset if they wont bite your dropshot if you are seeing them on the graph. With a little work, you will learn to tell the difference between small stripers and spots on your graph. Just ignore them, they will go away. LOL.

I have had a couple of my clients report to me that one of the local tackle stores is telling thier customers that I am not guiding any more and that I have another job. If you have been told that or if you are told that please ignore them. I assure you I am still guiding on Lake Lanier everyday and have been now for many years. I am not putting up reports everday because not much is changing out there. It never does alot of changing in the summer. The fishing is good and I am very busy.

As long as you guys keep coming, it will be my only job. I dont know where these ideas come from. If you ever have any questions about me or Lanier, dont hesitate to pick up the phone and call me at 770-356-4136. I will be more than happy to talk to you.

IF your interested in a trip, my next available days are in mid August. Most of August will be early morning trips (half days) with live bait. I will do artificials but the fish will be very sluggish then and they will just destroy the spottail minnows then.

Give me a call and lets go fishing.

Good luck out there

Ryan
