Fishing is pretty good. There is a halfway decent schooling bite bright and early. It wasn't as strong as it could be this week due to the wind and full moon, but when the full moon passes and the wind dies down look OUT as it should be pretty good with a mixed bag of Hybrids, whites and Spots. Sammy's and the bama Rig is the deal on the schooling fish. Last week I had a father and son outing and we slayed the fish with spot tails down deep. Yesterday I had almost 30 fish by myself on a mixture of Topwater, Spoons, Dropshot and Spot Tails. The main deal for me after the scooling bite is offshore stuff. Humps, long points, channel ledges, brush, deep rock piles etc etc. in the 25ft range. If you did your homework last year when we were 25ft low you should have no problems finding good areas that are holding fish. Just hit as many of those during the day and you will hook up. It's difficult to stay on those off shore areas in the wind but persistance and a good GPS/Sonar split screen is worth it's weight in gold right now. I had 2 nice 7lb stripers on spot tails using 6lb Triple Fish Fluoro which was a blast to follow them around on the trolling motor. I also had half a dozen whopper size crappie and the rest where spots ranging anywhere from dinkle to almost 3lbs. So far summer is turning out better than I thought it would..

We currently have 2 different tree cutting dates going on Allatoona right now. If you are interested in participating in these tree cutting events to help put cover in the lake please visit the GENERAL FISHING section on the Allatoonabass.com forum. You will have to register (it's free and it is required to prevent spam.) All of these projects are DNR and Corps of Engineer approved. We are slated to cut over 1500 trees this year and cut over 800 trees last year.
