Water Temperature: 82
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

Yesterday the Duluth Bass Club finished the 08 Spring Season with its Classic on Lake Lanier. In all we had nine qualifying boats, plus 6 more to join the fun and fish for the optional big fish pot.

I don’t have all the particulars but yesterday was all Scott Barnes and Tommy Akers. Those guys lapped the field with somewhere around 15.5 pounds and also laid claimed the big fish prize with your typical 4 pound plus Lanier toad. This was no real surprise as Scott and Tommy have been on mission all season. They were the season’s point champions and they became so without a regular season win but they were always right in the thick of things. So it was only fitting that they win and become the Classic Champions as well the Season Points Champions

Father and son Dale and Travis Tomazin finished second with right at 11 pounds. Sorry I don’t have all the exact weights and teams but it was down hill from here.

The better fish came on top with Spooks and Flukes and that bite ended around 10AM. There were fish to be had around docks with finesse jigs and worms but your best bet is to stay with the off shore main lake stuff.

Next month we kick off the 08 Fall Season on Sunday July 20 at Lake Russell. Those wishing to join and compete in team tournament environment drop us a line or come to next meeting at Bass Pro Shop Tuesday, July 15th. Team registrations begin at 6:15 PM and the meeting begins promptly at 7:00 PM and last approximately 30 minute.
