Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater Needed to burn a day before I lost it so took today off. A co-worker caught wind of my planned day of fishing and let me know he was available if I needed a partner. Think I disappointed him at my choice of locations, but southern Champlain was hosting a Thursday-Friday New Jersey Federation tourny. We had the boat on the water by 6:30 under cloudy skies and light winds. We thought for sure conditions were perfect for a good bite, which it was, but the biters were all dinks. It's been a long time since I've been through this many lure changes trying to get a decent bite! I think we got fish on everything we tried but failed to get a fish that broke the 14" mark. Most were 10" or smaller and a mix of SMB and LMB. Best action came with top-water plugs. Thunderstorms pushed us off the lake for a short time as they formed around us, but these failed to trigger any big bites.
