Date Fished: 7/5/2008
Water Temperature: 80
Water Clarity: 0

Fished Friday from 6-11:30 AM and today from 9am-12 (it was cloudy and I wanted to sleep in). For me, the fish took the Fourth off as well, at least on the lower end. It was typical summer, just a bit of water generated at the dam, and the water level was about 594.1. Igot only two bites the whole morning...one on a buzzbait(missed) and one on a worm (popped the knot...gotta tie really good knots with fluorocarbon). Tried topwater early in Alred's, probably stayed there too long, as by the time I moved to some main lake humps all the pleasure boat traffic had the lake churned up and wavy, and of course had the obligatory dude in a deck boat drive right in front of me and over the small hump I was fishing...he was close enough to have pitched a 3/4 oz jig into his boat, and he never made eye contact with me. I like to pitch worms at docks this time of year, but most docks had people on or around them, being the Fourth and all. Whine, whine...but its great to be an American, no matter what those interviewed on the news say.

Today was a little better...mostly cloudy, slept in. Made sure I went to one of my fave docks early before ever'one woke up, and caught a 16" on a worm to avoid the skunk. Caught a 10" on a 5" Berkley swimbait over some matted hydrilla on a hump, and later caught a 12" on a worm off another dock. Cranked that hump with a BD6 FF Shad, and pitched a 3/4 oz jig (the one I should have hit Mr DeckBoat Spotwrecker with) some on that grassline, no bites. I have reminded myself that if you want fish anything main lake on the lower end, either do it early or on a weekday! bass wishes, Joe J.
