Date Fished: 7/6/2008

Water Temperature: 82
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

I have been on the lake for the past 3 days of this holiday weekend with much boat traffic. But the Striper fishing has been outstanding, inspite of the heavy boat pounding.

I have averaged from 12 to 20 fish a day but here is the funny thing about the fishing of late. we have been catching our fish early in 30' to 60' of water fishing 25' to 30' on the drop, but here is where the difference has been for us catching a few and catching many fish.

We have been dropping the bait through the fish all the way to the bottom and slowly reeling the bait back up in the zone, and usually the fish will hit the bait 2 or 3 reel turns of the handle and Bam!!! its on.

I can only guess that the heavy traffic has the fish laying low in the bait right near the bottom, and usually they will come out of the bait and up for the strike. I have found that lately they have been doing alot of window shopping and not willing to come up for the bait after the day wears on.

Then as the morning gets later I have been going out over the river channel and fishing over 70' to 90' and dropping 35' to 50' and catching fish in the traditional summer pattern.

So this has been like fishing two different methods in two different months crazy yes, but has sure been a great weekend. I hope everyone had a great 4th as well as a safe one.

See you on the lake!
