Water Clarity: 1 foot I got on the water about 6:30 and things started slow, fishing in the slack water side of the river. I moved over to the tailrace side, where they had some current and things picked up. I got a 15" smallmouth on a pop-r along a rock wall, then found an area where I could see top water feeding. Although they wanted nothing to do with my pop-r, my 'go-to' bait is a 1/2 oz rattletrap which they liked. I got 3 more over 15", the biggest a real chunk at 181/2", and a couple more about 14 or so. One more hit on the way in, but it was a decent day with a few nice fish. Talked to someone doing a survey for PPL. They were seining for a species of minnow, but he said they've netted quite a few tiny smallmouths, and felt like it was a good spawn this year, with populations hopefully climbing.
