Date Fished: 7/25/2008 Fished Fayette on Friday after the fringes of Dolly swept through. I was hoping that it would cool Fayette off a bit, and the forecast said cloudy all day. The water was between 88 in the coves on the north side to about 91 in the intake. I did not check in the discharge, but if it did cool down, it couldn't have been much. The mist burned off around 8:30 (so much for the forecast!), and it was bright and sunny until I left around noon. I got on the water about 7:15, and by 7:45 I had three good slot fish in the boat (biggest went about 3.5#). I caught one short fish after the sun came out. All the fish were on a split shot 6" lizard (watermelon seed with a dyed chartreuse tail) in about 7'-8' on the outside edge of the hydrilla. The wind kicked up around 10:30, so fishing the deeper water on the main lake was not fun. It's been a while since I fished Fayette this time of year. Is there still any schooling action? The water was too choppy to see; but I heard that since they brought the third unit on line, the schooling that the lake was famous for seems to have gone away. True? Tight lines, BigD
