Water Temperature: 89
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Reel um N Guide Service By Lynn Atkinson 07/27/08 Sam Rayburn is at 161.30 and continuing to drop this week. The water temperature has been around 89 degrees. The water is clear to around 2 ft. and clearer in some spots. The water has been dropping steady and more of the grass has started to come to the surface making some great edges to fish early and late in the day. Stanley Ribbit Frogs are still my favorite bait to run over the grass and around the lily pads. Sometimes the fish like it slow and other times they want it burned across the grass. The Pop-Rs and Yellow Magic can be worked around the edges to get a few bites. After the bite slows down the Stanley Grass Jigs comes out and we start punching the grass looking for a bite. It can be a lot of work punching the grass and can be slow going but if you find a few fish it can be worth it. Working a few senko’s and wacky worms over the grass edges and flats will get a few fish. The Carolina and Texas Rigs have been picking up a few fish off the ledges and humps around grass. It has been tough this week with the winds and a few showers moving thru from the storm but in all “Big Sam” is still looking good. The Crappie have slowed down some this last week over the brush piles and around the bridge. We have been picking some up. Remember get the kids out fishing and have some fun. The Cat fish have been doing pretty good this week with a lot of keeper size fish being caught. If you haven’t heard about The Bass Class on the water check it out on the website and give me a call. Learn some new skills and a few tricks to catch fish on any lake.

I can say the Bass Cats are not just good looking, but they are built tough and they are fast. Get on down to Big D Outdoors for a new “BASS CAT”. If you haven’t taken a ride in one now’s the time. Give Big D Outdoors a call at 409-769-3700 then get down there and take a test ride. Let them know I sent you. Good Luck. God Bless
