Thought I was getting out of the post writing business, but several individuals were threatening to commit me to an insane asylum. Seems a few folks actually read my drivel.

Wasn't in a hurry to launch today as it was in the low 40's overnight, so had the boat floating shortly after 7:00am. Winds were light and would remain that way all day. I made a few casts near the ramp waiting for the sun to burn the fog off. The first fish fell for some technique called finesse fishing when the heavy stuff failed to find a biter. Seems the fishing pressure over the years has alienated power fishing as a means of catching LMB. Dainty rods and reels are now taking up valuable space in my rod box. Ran to my best bank hoping to break the finesse omen with a crankbait but failed miserably. Finally put two and three in the boat on topwaters but fessed up that I wasn't going to load the boat with fish that were looking up today. Picked up my flippin-rod and started pitching up into the flooded timber. Finally took two good fish on the creature bait along with a dink or two before that pattern wore out it's welcome. Milked my way north trying everything for zero bites before I made a longer run hoping for a miracle. A miracle of sorts did occur in the form of two SMB. One hit a crankbait over a milfoil bed, the other smashed a topwater plug off a shallow grassy flat. Both were decent fish and were a nice end to a long day. All said and done, another slow day for me with very few bites.
