Subject: Tidal Potomac River, Maryland Submitted by Reel Bass Adventures
Date Fished: 8/29/2008 The week started off strong with many bass hitting a variety of lures. we started off in the mornings with topwater poppers and buzz baits cast along grass bed edges. As the day progressed, we switched to shallow running crank baits, spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, stick worms and small plastic worms worked along the grasses. We worked the stick worms weightless and finesse worms with a 1/8 ounce weight. All of these baits were productive, catching bass up to five pounds. As the week progressed and the winds changed to the northeast, we experienced very high tides and a slowing of the fishing. Wednesday was our worst day but things begin to improve a little on Thursday with the better fishing for us occurring on the absolute low part of the tide. We found the better fishing to be in the creeks along grass edges with a sharp dropping bottom adjacent to water deeper than six feet.
