Piedmont Bass Classics & Team Crappie Results March 27, 2010...Jordan Lake~Farrington Point Wildlife Ramp

It's now back to back wins for Brian Fritts & Joe Langley!! It was a strange day at Jordan. 29 degrees for blastoff and up to about 58 degrees at weighin. The Friday night cold front kind of put the bass off the pattern they had been on all week. Early 10 to 15 mph winds kept it cool to about lunch time and the winds then died down and the day ended right nice. 24 teams competed, weighing in 40 bass totalling 147 pounds. Not a great catch for Jordan, but the cold front had a lot to do with that. Bass are still in 1 to 4 feet of water and the water temps still are around the 58 to 60 degree range. From what I heard, most of the fish bit on spinnerbaits, jerk baits, jigs and a few plastics. I want to thank our sponsors for this tournament...Farrell's Lakeside at Jordan Lake and Carolina Air Conditioning in Durham for donating bonus prizes for the 1st place team. Farrell's gave a $500 gift certificate and Carolina AC kicked in $250 in cash for at bonus 1st place prize of $750 in value. Thanks so much for the sponsorship and support!! Next Tournament is April 10th at Falls Lake out of Ledge Rock wildlife ramp. Weather permitting, that should be a great tournament. Carolina Game & Fish in Hillsborough is donating a $250 gift certificate and Crown Honda at Southpoint in Durham is donating $250 in cash, giving the 1st place team in that event a total $500 bonus!! Thanks so much for your sponsorship.....PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! Now, here are the results:

1st Place Team of Langley and Fritts walked away with earnings and bonus prizes amounting to $1,800. Way to go guys! Good job!

Team Crappie Division Rod King does it again! This time fishing with his regular partner, Drew Smith. This team is hard to beat anywhere when crappie fishing is involved! We had 6 teams show up even with the cold temps coming at us. Everyone fishing did pretty good on minnows and jigs with the crappie still in 1 to 4 feet of water. We only had two over 2 lbs. but the rest weighed in were pretty nice fish. The next event is at Falls Lake on April 10th. That should be a good one! Now here are the results:

1st Place: Rod King & Drew Smith of Durham...10 fish...14.82 lbs...$156 2nd Place: Aaron & Chester Eubanks of Lillington...10 fish...13.40 lbs...$84

Big Fish Award: 2nd Place team above...2.41 lbs...$30

Thanks to all of you for supporting my trail. We've got the best anglers around.

Don't forget that the 2nd in a series of 2010 Henry's Kids Project Youth Fishing Tournament sponsored by DEEP CREEK LURES will be held at Jordan on the 17th of April. Call me or go to the piedmontbassclassics.com website for more information. We had 2 youth fish today, and it was tough. Neither weighed in, but both are one step closer to qualifying for the Championship. The results are posted under the Henry's Kids Project Youth Fishing Tournament link on the website.

Have a great Easter with family! I know I will. I hope to see all of you April 10th at Falls! Tight Lines...Phil
