Date Fished: 4/15/2010
Water Temperature: 72+
Water Clarity: 1 foot

Fished Grassy today from Noon to 6:45. First time there. It was tough for me in there today. Water had good stain to it, which was what I was looking for. The fishing however was kinda slow. I only caught 6 and lost 3 others(all less than 2 and change) in my close to 7 hours in there. I wasn't impressed with the "lay of the land" in there so to speak. With the water dropping it just didn't set up well for fishing shallow. I didn't go all the way to the back but there are very few good bushes with water on them in that creek. I started just past Longwood in the back of the long pocket on the right. Best looking place I fished all day and only caught 1 and lost 1. Absolutely no activity in there. Ran around looking for some button willows and had a hard time finding many. When I would find a bank that looked right I would get a bite or two but nothing more. Maybe it was the front or something. I looked for beds for almost 2 hours and only found 2 beds and they were both vacant. I wonder if the majority of the fish here have moved up yet.?. It was a perplexing day to say the least. All being said, I'm not sure I'll be back to grassy again any time soon. It just doesn't seem to have the goods to me and every bank, point and pocket in the creek seems almost identical. When I would find that little something different that I drove 45mins up there hoping to find I would get a bite though. Just no isolated mature bushes up there really. Hate paying 4bucks to launch too, that stinks. All of what I caught/lost were on a sweet potatoe colored wave worm 4" tube and I had to go with .25oz weight with the soggy bottom shallow water to get any bites. All bites came from mature hardwood trunks with a mature bush within a foot or so of the tree. Water temp was 74 in a couple of places in there today too...what's up with that?

God Bless

Todd Ary
