  Subject: Jordan Lake, North Carolina

Submitted by Fishon (ip 75.184.24.60)

Date Fished: 4/27/2010
Water Temperature: 68
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Fished Lake Jordan 26 Apr and 27 Apr on the 26 I caught 3 keepers with biggest being 19.5in fished up river and caught a few short fish on a black zoom 4" shaky head then ran back to the S turns and hit the wind blown banks and caught the 3 keepers on stick ups in about 10ft water so I had a pattern starting my partner caught a 20" fish using a zoom brite red worm on a stick up in the same water depth and then we had to go. I went back on wed 27 Apr started fishing at 0700am launched out of Ebenezer and went under the bridge and to the first cove on the right and started with a shaky head and caught a 14" crappie so switched to top water and went along the bank. The 4th cast after the crappie I landed a 4.5lb fish not a bad start for the day. Fished that cove and went around the point and fished the rest of the bank the wind was kicking and I remembered the 26 Apr pattern and kept throwing the top water with no luck so I ran to the first bank with all the trees sticking up and fished that bank the wind was blowing hard and I was not sure the fish could hear or see the top water until I threw the ("splash it") Tennessee shad next to a stick up in 10-12ft water and it got hammered by a 6.75lb fish and things were coming together. Now I had been on the water about an 1.5hrs with 2 nice fish so continued fishing that whole bank with nothing so ran to the cove that is between the two sets of submerged trees and started to throw a down sized 1/8oz spinner bait in crappie color picked up to short fish and new i was on something. The point of the second cove within that cove my bait got hammered by a 5.25lbs bass and I must say I was very pleased it was now about 9:30 and had three very nice fish so worked that cove out to the main lake bank on the back side of all the trees and the water depth was 10-12ft so I started throwing the shaky head again and fished that bank and was just about to the end of that bank were it goes into another cove when my shaky head was bit or i bumped a log so I set the hook hard and now I really thought i was snagged so I started towards the snag when my line started ripping off of my spool I new it was another nice fish so I played her. She went under my boat and I thought she was going for the engines so i pulled hard and turned her now she was heading to the surface and I did not want her jumping so I stuck my rod as deep as I could in the water and it worked she stayed down. Now I figured I could bring her in so I started pulling her up to the surface when she got there my Jaw dropped and her Eyes popped and she made another drag pulling run she was a big fish! I worked her a little longer until she was good and tired brought her up and netted her! Yes!!! Another quality fish weighing 8.25Lbs now that was a good morning of fishing wished it was a tournament but that is how it goes as most of you out there know! All the fish were spawned out and had lost a lot of weight. The 8.25lb fish I am guessing would of went well over 10lbs if she had not laid her eggs and the 6.75lb fish would of easily went 8(+) if she was not spawned out... as well as the 2x5 ponders would of been at least 6(+)... so after 3.5hrs on the water I had 24.75lbs of fish in the boat and just could not get that 5th fish but all in all fished from 7am-2pm and was very very pleased with the days fishing. Tight lines and good luck! Work those wind blown banks with shaky heads 4" black zoom worms and throw top water early in the morning and throw down sized spinner-baits and I am sure you too will have a good day of fishing...All fish were released and swam of strong and healthy.
