I just talked to the Vistors Center at Shearon Harris Lake(919-362-3263). The rumor has been flying around about the lake being closed at the end of this year for enlargement. This rumor is totally false!!! They did say, however, that this was in the plans for the future, but it would be a long time before it would happen. So, tournaments and fun fishing will continue at Harris!

I also talked to the Director of NC's Inland Fisheries about the possibility of dropping the 'slot limit' at Harris. He said "the biologist have determined that the slot limit put in place a long time ago has no effect on the bass population at Harris". I would like to know how each of you feel about this. I, as a tournament director, would like to see it dropped. If the feedback from the anglers agrees with my feelings, I think it would be acceptable to start a petition to present at the Wildlife hearings to get it done. Fish are returned to the lake by tournament anglers, so as far as I'm concerned, we do not hurt the bass population anyway. Let us know how you feel....Phil McCarson....Piedmont Bass Classics
