Date Fished: 7/24/2010 Piedmont Bass Classics & Team Crappie Results July 24, 2010...Falls Lake~Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp Team Bass Division Results Temps..103 degrees! Water temps up to 94 degrees. The bite was tough with bass being a little inactive with these temps. The 12 teams that showed up also looked a little inactive when they came back to the scales. I changed the weigh-in time from 3 to 2, but that helped little. It was just miserably hot. One team, however, hooked 2 nice bass near weigh-in time. When they got back to the parking lot they were the only team that looked cool & happy! 40 bass were weighed in totaling 134 pounds, but the big story of the day was the team of Mike Carden and Johnny Wilder that weighed in the heaviest bag of the year with 5 bass weighing 27.09 pounds (2 of which weighed close to 8 lbs. each)! The anglers again did a great job of keeping them alive too! Good job ya'll !! Crankbaits & Tex & C rigs again was the ticket for the catches.
Now here are the results: 1st Place: Mike Carden & Johnny Wilder of Timberlake & Butner...5 fish...27.09 lbs...$575 & Bonus 2nd Place: Bobby & David Matthews of Durham...5 fish...16.92 lbs...$355 3rd Place: Thomas Sheffer & Ken McNeil of Cary & Raleigh...5 fish...16.39 lbs...$110 Big Fish Award went to the 1st Place Team above...7.93 lbs...$120 TWT 1st: 1st Place Team above...27.09 lbs...$130 TWT 2nd: 3rd Place Team above...16.39 lbs...$70 Carden & Wilder won a total of $955 in cash and prizes on a HOT day! Hope to see all of you Saturday, August 7th at Falls Lake! Also note that the NEW SIZE LIMITS will be in effect for this tournament....5 fish~14".......Thanks again for making this a great trail!
