Well last week there wasn't enough water in the river and yesterday the exact opposite was true. They had 8.5 gates running which is about 3 gates too much for the areas that I fish. I did end up catching two smallies weighing 4 lbs and 3 lbs respectively, which wasn't bad at all considering the amount of water running and the fact that it was off colored too. At the first hole I fished I missed one on a jig that hit it as I was reeling the bait in. At the second hole the same thing happened so even though the water was 46 degrees i switched to a spinnerbait and caught the 4 pounder out of one hole and the three pounder out of another hole. Then I lost the only good spinnerbait I had with me and that was that.

I looked through the truck and found an old spinnerbait box that I took out of the boat a long while back. The only white one I found had a rusted hook and a faded skirt but I threw it a while anyway. I did get a hit or two on it but I couldn't connect.

I went home and made up 6 new spinnerbaits identical to the one that they wanted which probably means they will never want a white spinnerbait again.:-)

I am supposed to be off again tomorrow so wouldn't you know it is raining cats and dogs as I write this. Regards Maddog
